Is there a good way to search through the NHibernate Guid.NewGuid()s?
I'm building a simple server-side web app, and I need a hash of some kind to track incoming requests. A key-value store is out, because it's too slow to write new entries every time, and the same key can have multiple values.
I thought that something like
string key = Guid.NewGuid().ToString("N");
var values = Session.Query().Where(x => x.Key.Equals(key));
would do the trick, but it doesn't.
I can loop through values and look for a match, but that's slow. Is there a faster, more efficient way to do this? I thought that I would also be able to use Set() for this, but it also doesn't work. I'm trying to avoid using SQL, if possible.

I suspect you're getting the same performance issues that I get from NHibernate with Guids.
You should check the performance characteristics of Guid.NewGuid() before you decide that it's too slow to work with. I've written an in-depth post about this topic which I believe should give you some insights:

Regarding your question about the performance, I think that the size of the generated Guid is insignificant in comparison to the serialization of your property name. So, if you cache the generated Guid (e.g. in a Dictionary), you will not pay the cost of generating the Guid on each insert. The generated Guid will be constructed and stored in the dictionary (which means you will save some memory) and you will retrieve it from the dictionary in O(1).
